OK, so I listened to my daughter's radio station in my car this morning. She had driven my car the night before. She left it in neutral instead of park and left the seat up so far no one except twiggy could get into it. There were three commercials in a row that were for typically "American" things. I thought to myself, people say I'm weird, is it because I think this stuff is awful. The first commercial was for a haunted house on a riverboat. It had a "Captain Carnivorous" who, when stranded, ate the crew. The second was for a gun show. They enumerated the guns that could be purchased and the destruction that could be seen there. The third commercial was for a country western bar. Cheap drinks and scantily clad women were featured. I don't think any of these places would be fun and the whole idea of one of them just frightens the hell out of me.
And then I think about what most people do around here to have fun. Besides going to bars and amusement parks, there is the gambling boat and the drag races. While I am visiting the schools plays and musical concerts others are attending the sporting games. About the only thing that I do that my students do is see movies, and even then, the movies we see are completely different.
I was going to go to the Catholic Church last night with my friend Mrs. Tenor but I was just too tired. It should not have taken that much effort to go, but I would rather stay with my family and vegetate in front of the TV rather than drive somewhere. I admit the last time we went I had a wonderful experience. This church was abandoned by the archdiocese but the members still keep it going. Every second and fourth Sundays they have an eight-thirty service called "evensong". There are five singers who perform the service in the darkness. They have wonderful voices and it is done accapella. It begins with bells in the tower, then the service and then more bells to end it. You can stay for meditation afterwards or quietly leave.
I woke up feeling unwell this morning as did my children. T-bill stayed in bed and hubby called the school. Daughter went to school and so did I. I think either we all have colds or the fall allergy season is just getting around to us.
